1914/15 Star named 22044 PTE J S EVANS L N LAN R.John Sydney Evans born Ancoats, Lancs was previously 16475 Manchester Regt. WW1 saw him sign up with the 1st Loyal North Lancashire Regiment and numbere 22044. He landed in France on 22nd June 1915 but three months later he was killed in action on 25th September 1915 on the opening day of the Battle of Loos.
