Wilfred Henry Gibbard lived in Hensington Woodstock, Oxon and was a Ships Steward on the Royal Mail package steamers. He enlisted in Derby on the 30th Nov 1914 into the Notts & Derby Regiment numbered 20295. He trained with them till the 24th July when he transferred to the 2nd Lancashire Fusiliers numbered 24206. He landed inFrance with them on the 7th Aug 1916. Between the 1st and 5th July 1916 Wilfred was badly wounded as he was shipped home to the UK on the 6th July 1916 and was eventually discharge due to Wounds received and received a Silver War Badge on 2nd May 1917.
