1914 Star KIA Pte Clay 2 Essex Regt

1914 Star named 7777 PTE J G CLAY 2/ESSEX R.Small scratch on back of medal but naming is clear.Joseph born in Limehouse, Middlesex but living in Plaistow, Essex.Landed in France on 22nd Aug 1914 with the 2nd Battalion Essex Regt.Joseph was killed in action on 13th May 1915 when the regt were in action near Shell Trap Farm. 37 were killed, 94 wounded and 49 missing on that fateful day.Joseph was the Son of Mr & Mrs H J Clay of 27 Plaistow Park Road, Plaistow. He was aged 30 and is remembered at Menin Gate.
