IGS Burma 1885-87 Pte Francis Somerset Light Infantry

Henry Francis born in Bath, Somerset and enlisted on the 22nd Jan 1884 into the 2nd Somerset Light Infantry numbered 583 as a 18-year old farm labourer. He had previous military experience with the 4th Battalion Somerset Light Infantry. After training he went to India in March 1885 landing from HMS Crocodile and earning the IGS Burma clasp and came back to the UK on 2nd Nov 1891. He was discharged on 21st Jan 1896 after 12 years service.
