1914 Trio to a soldier in the 1/4 Suffolk Regt.1914 Star named 1334 PTE W H FOULGER 1/4 SUFF R.British War & Victory Medals named 1334 PTE W H FOULGER SUFF R.William Henry Foulger was born in 1892 at Beccles, Suffolk and was a Cooper before WW1. He joined up and was sent to France on 8th November 1914 with the 1/4th Suffolk Regt under number 1334. They would have arrived in between the First Battle of Ypres with the 3rd division. Then they would have faced the Winter Operations 1914-15, First Attack on Bellewaarde,The Actions of Hooge and Second Attack on Bellewaarde.The regiment transferred divisions to the 15th Division and then in February 1916 to the 33rd. He would have been involved in 1916 the The Battle of Albert, Battle of Bazentin, the attacks on High Wood, capture of Boritska and Dewdrop Trenches.In 1917 the division were at the First and Second Battle of the Scarpe, The actions on the Hindenburg Line, Operations on the Flanders coast (Operation Hush), The Battle of the Menin Road Ridge, The Battle of Polygon Wood.In February 1918 they transferred to 58th Division as Pioneers and were present at the Battle of St Quentin, Battle of the Avre, Battle of Villers-Bretonneux, Battle of Amiens, Battle of Albert, Second Battle of Bapaume, Battle of Epehy and the final advance in Artois.
