A very nice condition Australian Army Medical Corps group.British War & Victory Medals named 14497 PTE A SPENCER 10-F AMB AIF.Albert Spencer was from Accrington, Lancashire and was born 1885. He was the son of Joseph and Jane Spencer of 31 Booth Street, Accrington, Lancs. He must have emigrated at some time as when WW1 came along he joined up at the age of 30 10 months on 4th September 1915 with the Australian Army Medical Corps numbered Private 14497.He left Australia via Sydney on 22nd August 1918 and arrived in UK in October. He landed in France on 14th June 1917 and was taken on at the 10th Field Ambulance Battalion.The battalion were part of the 3rd Australian Division and on the 20th May 1918 he was brought in to the 20th Casualty Clearing Station due to wounds received from a bomb which hit him in the abdomen. Sadly on the 21st May 1918 he died from these wounds and was buried in the Vignacourt British Cemetery near Amiens in France.
