A historic 1914 Trio and bar to a First Battle of Wipes POW to the 2nd Royal Warwickshire Regt.1914 Star and Copy Bar, British War & Victory Medal named 1555 CPL J H DARBYSHIRE R WAR R with original silk ribbons.Cpl Darbyshire landed with the 2nd Royal Warwickshire Regt on the 5th Oct 1914 they were with the 7th Division.This Division fought the advancing Germans to a standstill at Ypres or Wipes as the British called it.Cpl Darbyshire is recorded as being POW on the 29th Oct 1914 which would have been the Phase of the Battle of Gheluvelt, 29-31 October 1914.The Germans on the Red Cross register record him being captured on the 21st Oct 1914 which was the Phase the Battle of Langemarck, 21-24 October 1914.As the Germans are more reliable with there information I would tend to believe the date 21st Oct 1914.
