1914 Star, British War & Victory Medals named 8071 PTE G W PARKER C GDS.George was born in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire and was 24 years old when he joined the Coldstream Guards in 1908 numbered 8071.When WW1 started he landed with the Battalion in France on 13th August 1914 and took part in The Battle of Mons and the subsequent retreat, including the Rearguard Affair of Etreux, The Battle of the Marne, The Battle of the Aisne including participation in the Actions on the Aisne heights and the Action of Chivy and the First Battle of Ypres 1914. On 24th Jan 1915 he was busted for being drunk on active service when being the cook for No1 Coy and faced 65 days on punishment duty. In June 1918 he was transferred to the Military Field Police and renumbered P/15664 as an acting L/Cpl. He was let go in April 1920.
