1914/15 Star Died 2866 Pte Mather 1/4 Devon Regt

1914/15 Star named 2866 PTE H G MATHER DEVON R.Horace was born in 1895 in Maker, Cornwall. He was in the 2/5th Devonshire Regt and landed in Egypt on 5th Sept 1915. At some stage probably when the regiment was disbanded in June 1916 he joined the 1/4th Battalion.He is next listed as died on active service on 10th July 1916 and buried in Basra Cemetery. Strange thing he is listed as Horace Edgar not Horace George on the CWGC site but for army service he is listed as Horace George but born Horace Edgar.
