WW1 Pair Pte Foster KIA 10/10/1916 2nd York and Lancaster Regt

Thomas Foster was born in Keighley, Yorkshire and enlisted into the 2nd Battalion York and Lanaster Regiment numbered 23604. He landed in France and on 10th Oct 1916 was in trenches at Transloy. During the day the battalion was working on extending the support trench and were heavily bombed by artillery through out the day and we can only assume the Thomas was hit by sharpnel during the works as he is noted as being Killed in Action on that day. He has no known grave and is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
