Herbert Hunt born 1875 in Saffron Waldon, Dorset was a 19 year old groom when he enlisted into the Dorset Regiment on 24th Feb 1893 numbered 3759. His service records confirm he was previously in the 3rd Dorset battalion Militia. After training he was sent to India on 26th Feb 1894 and earned the India Medal staying in India till 17th Mar 1902 when they were sent to South Africa for six months earning him a QSA with 2 clasps and then home. He stayed in the Army till 23rd Feb 1909, 16 years service.
